Hamburg is never short of thing to do....

One can take a boat tour around the wharf to see where some of the largest boat in world are made. Or merely stroll along the waterfront along the cities 800 year old harbor. For early risers the lively fish markets display the essence and traditon of Hamburg. 

There are many festival one of with is Wutzrock which is an open air rock festival. Christmas markets in December are held among other locations at the Hamburg Rathaus square. People come from all over the world to see these uniquely german markets

If it is a more cultural experience you are looking for you can find many museums and theaters. Go to hamburgs state opera house or indulge in the fine cuisine maybe sample some franzbothern , a pastry which resembles a flattened croissant.

Visit St. Michaelis Church. The tower was bombed during the World War so on reconstruction an elevator was factored in. This is openly welcomed by visitors who wish to avoid the numerous steps to the top.There is however, a fee of approximately 4 euro for this luxury. If you do make it to the top the view of the city is simply breathtaking.
